How this
service works
Seven in Ten Carts Are Abandoned, and That Number Never Moves
Baymard Institute’s meta-analysis of 50 separate studies puts the average cart abandonment rate at 70.22%. What makes that figure interesting is not its size but its stability — it has sat near 70% for more than a decade, through every wave of ecommerce technology that was supposed to fix it. If your store abandons at 70%, you are normal. The useful question is not how to move the headline number, because a large part of it is people using the cart as a wishlist, but which slice of it you can actually recover.
Separate the Browsers From the Buyers You Are Losing
Baymard’s survey work found 42-43% of US shoppers abandon simply because they were browsing and not ready to buy. Those people were never going to convert in that session and no design change reaches them. Strip them out and the picture becomes actionable. Among shoppers with genuine intent, the leading reasons are extra costs appearing at checkout (39%), slow delivery (21%), not trusting the site with card details (19%), being forced to create an account (19%), and a checkout that runs too long (18%). Every one of those is a build decision rather than a pricing problem.
The Average Checkout Is Twice as Long as It Needs to Be
From 16 years of large-scale usability testing across more than 320 top-grossing US and EU sites, Baymard puts a well-designed checkout flow at 12 to 14 form elements. The average US checkout shows 23.48 by default. Nearly double, on stores with real budgets and real teams. The same body of research concludes that fixing documented checkout usability problems lifts conversion by an average of 35.26% on large ecommerce sites — which across combined US and EU sales works out at roughly $260 billion in recoverable orders, a figure Shopify cites in its own enterprise guidance.
The Running Costs Nobody Puts in the Quote
A store quote covers the build. What it rarely covers is what the store costs to run, and those numbers decide whether the thing is profitable. The payment gateway takes a percentage of every single order, permanently, paid to them rather than to us — anyone quoting you \"payments included\" is describing the integration and quietly skipping the economics. Premium extensions and plugins commonly add $100-$400 a year. Then hosting, which for a store with real traffic is not the $5 tier, and the ongoing patching a store needs more than a brochure site does. None of that is money we receive, which is exactly why we would rather you had the figures before signing than discovered them in month two.
What We Build, and What We Will Not Claim
So the store gets built around those findings: landed cost — product, shipping and tax — visible before the cart forms rather than revealed at the final step; guest checkout as the prominent default with account creation offered after the sale; the shortest form that still captures what you actually need; recognisable payment marks near the card step, and a payment flow that does not re-ask for details it already has. None of that is clever. It is just the documented list, applied. What we will not do is promise you a specific conversion figure — Baymard’s 35.26% is an average across large sites in controlled testing, not a forecast for your store. See the performance side too, since a checkout that takes four seconds to load undoes the rest.
Questions, Answered Directly
It is the global average, so on its own it tells you very little. More useful is comparing against your own category — high-consideration verticals run well above 70%, everyday essentials well below — and looking at where in the flow people drop rather than at the headline rate.
No. Mandatory account creation is consistently one of the top reasons shoppers with genuine intent abandon. Take the sale as a guest, then offer an account on the confirmation page, where you already hold their name, email and address and only need a password.
Before the cart, not at the final step. Surprise costs at checkout is the single largest recoverable reason for abandonment. Showing full landed cost early loses you some carts earlier in the journey, which feels worse and performs better.
The Starter tier covers a catalogue of up to 50 products. Beyond that we quote based on the actual catalogue size, variant complexity and whether inventory needs syncing with anything you already run.
WebBizora e-commerce development is $4,499 one-time for a complete store covering up to 100 products at launch, with checkout, tax, shipping and payment gateway configured and tested as part of the build.
What Website Maintenance Costs Here
Monthly, published, and cancellable. The hard part of comparing maintenance quotes is that “maintenance” means something different at every supplier — so each plan below lists what is actually in it, not just a number.

Published 2026 guides put small business maintenance at roughly $50–$150 a month for basic cover, $150–$400 for a standard plan and $400–$1,000+ for full service, with ad-hoc freelancer work at $50–$150 an hour. That last figure is the one worth holding onto: ten small changes billed hourly costs more than a year of Essential Care. Plans are monthly, there is no minimum term, and hosting stays in your name throughout.
